Exam & Accreditation Programs

Looking to earn a credential or take the next step in your professional licensure? These organizations offer widely recognized certifications and exams in the interior design and architecture space.

Our Chapter’s advocacy work begins with awareness—educating the public, the design community, and policymakers about the value of interior design. From campaigns to conversations, we shine a light on the power of design and the people behind it. Join us in building a more informed and inspired future for our profession.

LEED credentials validate expertise in sustainable design and green building. Candidates can pursue the entry-level LEED Green Associate or the advanced LEED AP with specialties such as BD+C, ID+C, ND, O+M, or Homes. Preparation options include chapter-run study groups and online training/practice via the USGBC Education Portal. Members who pass LEED (or WELL AP) may qualify for reimbursement through the Sustainable Design Education Fund.

The WELL Accredited Professional credential demonstrates knowledge of the WELL Building Standard, focused on health and wellness in built environments. The exam covers areas like air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind, and is geared toward design, architecture, sustainability, and wellness professionals. WELL provides free prep tools with extensive training and study materials, and the chapter may host study courses based on interest. Reimbursement may be available through the Sustainable Design Education Fund for members who pass.

EDAC (Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification) recognizes professionals who apply research-driven design to improve healthcare environments. It’s intended for healthcare-focused architects, interior designers, planners, and researchers who want to demonstrate measurable impact on patient care, safety, staff performance, and operations. Prep resources and CEUs come from The Center for Health Design, and the chapter may offer events or mentorship connections.
